Olive
Terrific job Eugene! Thanks for all your efforts. The day had awesome energy around it and all participants seemed to enjoy. It was great to meet some new folks and we even had new wheelers out for the first time:) I look forward to the next trail run.
SQRLPWR
A huge thank you goes out to Eugene and co. who organized a massively successful, fun and mostly trouble-free club run :) Turn out was epic....we had a bridge collapse, Jim's winch decided not to play, I think Bill had a tie-rod problem, but he was freestylin' so I guess that doesn't count LOL...and there was some minor exhaust issues here and there, but everyone I spoke to had an awesome time out there. For those who don't use FB, here's my random photoset http://xterrra.blogspot.ca/2014/04/refrew-rally-proper.html

sar4x4
The yellow tape was the official start line. Registration was in my 'office' because of the rain at that time, and there is a step stool to help get in! This white Jeep was two weeks old! They appropriately chose to only run Stage 1, and they loved it! I think they were # 2 out of the gate. More comments and more photos to follow. sar4x4
That is one large set of, I mean shackle! The 1 km line to help calibrate your odometer. There is snow and ice ruts in places! There is an elusive wood cock in this picture! Renfrew has a storied gold mining history. This is an abandoned mine-shaft. Not a good pic, but suffice to say if you fell through that slightly overgrown foliage it may be a long way down! Some folks came well prepared for lunch! Fully aired up ATs are no match for gumbo! I left my Krawlers at home! Porcupine dinner crumbs! He ate most of the tree bark! More pics later today.

sar4x4
Moved the pics from yesterday's Rally over here B) ... I knew you would, once mrjoe picked up on it! How do I keep my pics from becoming so small?
mrjoecanadian
I would of moved them if I could, if you uploaded to the site you have no controls for the size it's a setting on the board.
Eastcoastcam
I knew you would, once mrjoe picked up on it! How do I keep my pics from becoming so small? The site automatically shrinks it... Allows more storage on the server, BUT also allows more pics to be uploaded in a single post. If you click on the picture itself, it opens up the picture larger and then you can scroll through all them by clicking on the side of the enlarged image. sar4x4
Who is that old grumpy looking guy in the suspenders? lol I know it makes the pics much bigger to click on one and then scroll but they are still so small compared to the originals. I guess I'll take even larger originals liekI used to, the website seems to always reduce by the same percentage............
TRUXterra
Nice pics...keep them coming! I LOL'd with the pic of John (XJ Zone) with a wheel through the wood. I think I have a similar pic from every trip we've made together with a front wheel deep into a rut! I had to miss this trip due to a leak in the roof. I had a blast 2 years ago on the first one (or was it last year? I'll have to check).

The other larger bridge that we caution about, I'm not sure I will use it again for full width vehicles. On side is dicey! This was the third year for a Navigational Style Rally. And the longest! And the little hill climb at the end! And more water mud and ICE amd SNOW than usual!
SQRLPWR
ah if only i took that with my phone instead of my camera, it would have embedded the gps co-ords to the photo - maybe someone else did tho. I seem to recall it was not too far from the start of stage
derekmac
If memory serves me right, it wasn't too far past the waterfall.

The bigger pictures are uploaded on an external web site like photobucket.com and/or blogspot.com If you take larger originals your pictures will still be the same size. autumnwalker
The board automatically resizes the pictures to... I forget what size / ratio. I can bump it up. The problem we had was that people were uploading full resolution photos from DSLRs (?) that were over 15 MB each - we had over 5 GB of photos when I first took over hosting of the site. They were all shrunk down to improve storage / speed on the page (rather than loading several 15 MB photos on a thread). What size would you guys consider reasonable for display? SQRLPWR
cant you just adjust the displayed thumbnail size and keep the current upload resize ?
sar4x4
There is a big difference between the size of my photos above and Derek's. I think mine are too small for good viewing. They got re-sized when uploading. How is it Derek's are so large? Je ne comprendre pas. Do I always need to load them somewhere else first? I'm not a social media or IT guy. Let me know! autumnwalker
I just bumped up the maximum resolution to 1920x1080 (i.e. 1080p resolution) - the board will resize to fit within those dimensions. Is that better? It was set at 700x700 before. The new settings will only affect photos uploaded going forward (i.e. if you reupload the old photos in this thread). TomWood
Sounds like a good plan, and Eugene odds are the difference is that Derek used an external site and linked to the photos, where you used the built in uploader. Nothing wrong with either method, but as Scott has just changed the settings, the built in should provide a better thumbnail.
