Recovery strap or rope

What type of rope exactly?

i think most of us use recovery straps, which have a little bit of stretch in them, but still a big jolt and can be hard on the rig.

Tom has a Bubba rope (is that the make?) ...it's like a bungee cord and makes for a super smooth pull.

I use my winch wherever possible. Failing that I use a strap, but would prefer a Bubba

I have a 30' 7/8" ASR rope, and LOVE it!  Soooo much smoother of a pull, with no neck snapping jerk.  You can order very high quality ropes from the PORN store.  This one here would be similar to what I have.  Jeff is out of stock now, but you can see all the ropes he has here.  They are expensive, but worth it IMHO.

I have the same rope as Derek, and highly suggest getting one if they fit in the budget. Love my ASR Recovery Rope and it was suggested by Jeff Hiltz before he got into the Jerk-Its. So either one would be a huge benefit to have.

One thing I will say is its good to have a strap as well if there is any need for towing out of a trail. You can do it with the rope but the chance of stretching and ruining it is there.

Another thing to consider is if you need an extension for winching, I wouldn't recommend the stretchy snatch ropes or stretchy straps for winching . I carry a heavy rated web sling for winching but it isn't intended for shock loading , but is very effective for steady heavy load
