sar4x4
If it's really wet and folks still go, we can pretend we are training for the Apocolypse or some kind of emergency. And really test my rear locker climbing the gully. No where to slide off!

sar4x4
^^ Agreed. We'd never hear the end of it! It will be bragging rights if it's really tough and fun!

PatQX4
Anyone know roughly how long it takes to complete big Jones? Just curious
SQRLPWR
It's really hard to say - any trail run time depends largely on a bunch of variables, mostly the number of rigs, number of rigs who want to play and get stuck in the mud, trail conditions, breakages....you get my drift? My log shows 5.5 hours from last time - but it was snow covered. Plan for the whole day and you can't go wrong unless there are extreme circumstances. sar4x4
As Jay says! It is a long trail day depending on where you live and call the start and end point. Although not necessarily hard. From Windsor area several km of dirt road to the start of the trail, then several km of trail, then several km of dirt road at the end of the trail, and several more pavement (20+ without looking at a map), back to Windsor. The 5.5 hours Jay mentions is a good approximate number from 'Windsor' back to 'Windsor'. My experience, being on it twice. Once in snow, once in hot dry weather. PatQX4
Wow, long run. Is it necessary to bring extra fuel or should a full tank do me?
SQRLPWR
Most of that time will be crawling or stopped. Most of the kms will be driving to / from trail. For anything outside HRM I put 40 to 50 litres in to accommodate the travel and trail. It all gets burnt one way or the other

SQRLPWR
Would be great to see you out! TBH I've given up trying to estimate how many rigs, but there seems to be a good amount of interest. We'll see how that pans out on the day.
