TRUXterra
Well I picked up my transfer case skid today. Hopefully I'll be able to get it installed on the weekend if the weather's nice. My daughter was over shoulder when I saw the pic and commented "That's a pretty sun but what\s that other stuff?"...lol
derekmac
My daughter was over shoulder when I saw the pic and commented "That's a pretty sun but what\s that other stuff?"...lol Lol, I should paint the little indents yellow. No one will ever see them again, but it would be good for a laugh! :D
TRUXterra
Yes, by all means keep it "Sunny side up!"...and with that comment, I'll send myself to the corner for a while ;)
derekmac
Well I got my skid plate installed today, but also found a ton of rot when it was up on the hoist. There's too much to make it worth while to fix, so now I'll just beat it into the ground and figure something out when the safety is up on it. derekmac
I posted this in the "What did you do to your rig today" thread, but figured I'd add it here. I bought it off of eBay. The place has amazing feedback and they've sold almost 3000 of these lights. It was also much cheaper than anything I could find local. I'm interested to see how well it works.http://www.ebay.ca/itm/24INCH-120W-LED-LIGHT-BAR-FLOOD-SPOT-WORK-LIGHTS-4WD-UTE-OFFROAD-SAVE-240W-/331055713668?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4d14754d84 Finally got around to installing my light bar today. No pics of the install as it was starting to get dark when I started to do it. I'm really happy with how bright it is! It doesn't have crazy throw, but does a great job lighting up in front of you. It was really hard trying to take half decent pics with a phone, the difference is quite a bit more than what the pics show. Here's just low beams. Low and light bar. Just high beams. High and light bar. I mounted it back a bit so I wouldn't get any glare on the windshield, or hood. Only a tiny bit of light lands on the hood, and I can't see it sitting in the Jeep. derekmac
Here's how it looks mounted, now that I had a chance to clean up the wiring some.

TRUXterra
Love it. The is a company now producing a bar that has independent leads for the spot & floods in the same bar. I'm waiting on that one!

derekmac
Looks good. Is that angle iron? It is. That's all I had that would work for now. I plan on getting an actual cross bar to mount it to though.
derekmac
Not too much to add here (at least nothing that hasn't been posted elsewhere). I used Plasti-dip on the front grill, and used wing-walk paint on the bumpers, and plastic on the doors. Also took off my mangled steering damper. derekmac
Last night I picked up some ABS pipe to make my homemade intake. I just need to get a cone filter, which I'll be ordering tomorrow from Amazon. I also plan on using some of the thin sheet aluminum that I have to make a heat shield for it. derekmac
Well I've decided that I'm going to do some cutting of the wheel wells, so eventually I'll be able to fit bigger tires. This is what will be coming off the front. The back of the rear wheel well. The front of the rear wheel well. This should allow me to clear 33's. Right now my 31's just clear. e36m3
i just got myself a dewalt jigsaw. using it with metal blades is a lot more precise than using my sawsall. i dont regret buying that tool
derekmac
I'm working on cutting the wheel wells today. Here's a pile of dirt that came out of the drivers side plastic rocker cover. No wonders it's rusted! Here it is with the lines drawn on. The relief cuts made. And basically done. I need to fix the rust on the fender, and trim the plastic liner. derekmac
Here's the front finished. The back before cutting. After cutting. These show how much was trimmed. It's not perfect, but it's good enough for me. The next thing will be to have the rockers cut out, and new metal welded in.
TomWood
Don't forget to get the top of the wheel arch cut out and replaced ;)
