TomWood
Reason one you have proper tow points and not just to a bumper. I figured the rope would give out first. Either way this is why you don't stand beside a recovery attempt.
backwoodsxj
Yup could have taken his head off! Real lucky and stupid too for being anywhere near a recovery.........

Either way this is why you don't stand beside a recovery attempt. This is the # 1 reason, NOT to jerk hard when doing a recovery. Your applying double to triple the force. Nothing to do with the rope because most a designed to handle 4X + what the vech weighs. Mines good for 27,000lbs. Proper tow points, most are only rated for 10,000lbs ( that use 2 - 1/2" bolts ) Even custom bumpers with D rings or Hitch prolly would have done the same, if not then, sooner or later. Eastcoastcam
You also don't use a tow strap (or chain) for recovery. Know the difference between a tow strap and a recovery strap and use each for their intended use.

RobertMcC
Good explanation in the second video. They have a good one about inspecting your straps, but sound doesnt work. But another point... VVV using a sling to distrubte the weight.
My04T4R
Crane slings make good tow straps.
