Building up the JK

This is long overdue and figured I would just start my own thread instead of posting in what did you do to your rig today. Has been ongoing for the past few months but now is slowly coming to a stop leaving me in the poor house. I figure its worth protecting my rig if I'm going to abuse it in the woods.

Diff covers from solid axle. These are seriously beefy!

Axle sleeve kit from EVO. This was probably overkill with the truss :P

EBAY Chinese knock snorkel. Knock off of the AEV one but 1/3 the price.

VIAIR constant duty air compressor – 450cc motor 2.5 GAL tank. 150 PSI @ 1.6 CFM which is good enough for the tires! Temp solution is mounted on plywood in the back but I want to migrate the compressor under the hood and possibly get rid of the tank. I really don’t need it now and learned a thing or two in the process of setting this all up. Still not complete but very functional!

The rugged ridge winch I have is decent but the remote connector sucks and I broke it eventually. So I ended up making my own end.

Since I don’t ever want to deal with a crappy winch remote again I bought a In dash winch controller. Very easy install with “T taps” and quick connects to the remote lead on the winch solenoid.

I also ripped off the old rough country lift kit and installed a set of fox shocks and EVO springs. Went from 3.25’ to 4’ but really I gained an easy 2 inches. The old kit not even two years old was sagging badly. One shock was completely dead. After replacing 7 shocks on this thing I had enough and spent the money on the premium gear. I was tired of jeep driving like complete **** and serious gangster lean.

Removed the rear sway bar and don’t think I will ever put it back on now

Needed a new tie rod end for alignment, the one I has had a decent bend in the threads. I dunno how that would ever happen!

Also installed a tuffy security box under the driver seat

Also removed the motor from the electronic sway bar disconnect. Over engineered junk and finally died after taking one to many baths. The electronic board is burnt from shorting out. My fix was 20$

Turn in the eye hook to disconnect. Takes 20 seconds and is still faster then most JKs with quick disconnects ;)

Also added a fire extinguisher in the rear

Needed new rear brakes and rotors to pass MVI. All done for another 2 years!

Gotta say I’m happy how things are going with it. Only issue I got now is a tranny noise while in gear. Soon as I switch to neutral it goes away. Hoping Dartmouth Dodge goes good on the warranty I have left. Its going in the shop on the 9th since I'm away next week.

The difference between the old RC lift and the nice one we put in was really stunning. I was honestly shocked at the amount of gain. It turned out really good.

That truss kit looks great to, Bill was telling me about it today when I was in there.

We might have to stop calling that rig the Rubicant soon!
