  1. The Liberty has a 3.7, not a HEMI.

Its a dodge motor and could have the same issues with the lifters as did the hemis. Ticks are usually valve/lifters, either out of adjustment, so that rebuild kit wont help you any bit if its a head issue. Knocks are what to worry about.

Reading up, Synthetic motor oil ain't good for it and a few noticed it once they switched over to syn. Has to use mobile 1 5-30. I didn't hear it, but could be lifters or could be noisy fuel injectors...

There's 100s of threads when you search google about Dodge 3.7 tick..Sounds to me the same issue as the Hemi had.

  2. The option of purchasing a new rig is not available at the moment. Plus I do love the liberty.

Same with me and the 4runner.

I dunno if thats a good deal, be about 900$ when you get it to the door and then whatever other cost to have the engine rebuilt ( maybe another 1000$ ) You might buy the standard bearings and rings, but they may have to hone them to oversized.

Tom I don't know how jeeps are for motors, but I'm pushing over 300K and still going strong. I wouldn't rebuild it till you have to. If you want a rebuilt motor, find another motor and rebuild that.

  3. Interesting - I have only really looked at OEM brake lines which, IIRC, are not coiled like that.

    thanks for the tip!

That's the old way of doing them... When I worked at Curtis, Most cars were done that way, unless someone changed a brakeline. Most don't know why, so they just run them direct and the "cleanest way"
