Agreed, you need brackets that will support the tugging force of the winch, bolted to stock bumper would lead into injuries. 8000lb winch on a 3500-5000lb hitch will be the same ( dangerous )

Yeah I got inverted 12pt bolts holding my axles on. Requires a m8 triple square bit. When you buy a axle, buy 12 triple square bolts and a new triple square bit.6 for the axle, 6 spares.

Nothing more easier then a vw. 10mins and done. Wouldn't know how long to do the 4runners, because never had to and wont have to. Id be changing those 12PT to 6PT pretty fast.

Breaking axles is fun, i broke 2 sets last year on the VW.

Yeah but you can buy a Dana 44 and everything to swap for less then a set of RCVs and go to even cheaper cost axles. James I wouldn't say NEVER, But shouldn't have to fork out money for NEW axles, BUT cant say you'll never break them.

I just don't see paying 1100+ plus for a axle worth it, when you can get 3 or 4 regular for that. CV axles are weird, they can last forever or fail in 10mins.
