Time to tackle my shifer boot, as the Trail Gear boot had gone hard and cracked. Many years of very hot engine and transmission heat will to that.

Also got a knuckle rebuild kit as it's time to refresh the front end.

Front brakes are on order too.

Oh, and I'm swapping the steering wheel out, so got a boss. Just need to find one I like.

I removed the center console to install the new shifter boot, but IDK if there's any saving it as it's in bad shape.

I've attempted to JB plastic-glue it back together whilst I figure out what I'm going to do.

I've realized I don't really need an arm rest, but cup holders are a MUST.

So, I might just make a simple dog-house for the shifter and leave the rest bare for easy cleanage. Then I can screw a cup holders to the floor.

TBH - it does look great! I'd keep running that for now.

re: generic console - not sure specifically, but they do make stuff like below that just "generically" can be made to fit into a rig. You'd have to find the general dimensions and then probably massage the bottom of it to sit properly.

On the last run, I discovered there rear locker was not engaging.

I could hear the air pressure relief on the front solenoid,  but nothing from the rear.

Troubleshooting the issue was weird  because my test light was showing voltage on the bad solenoid.

Thinking the solenoid was bad, I tore both down thinking maybe clogged with dirt. No.

So, swapped the solenoids over and the problem moved to the 'good' one.

I put my DVM on the bad solenoid wires, and nothing, just 0 volts. But my 12v test light was still lighting up...very odd.

Eventually I traced the problem to a broken wire under the passenger seat!!

RESULT!! I got my rear differential locker working without having to replace the very expensive ARB solenoid.

I probably have aa second gen one kicking around

thanks. I was looking at one in Kennys and it's way too different.

So, I've decided to make a custom console with MDF.

ARE YOU SURE ABOUT MDF?  I thought it was for dry environments, it soaks up moisture and swells and falls apart….  🤷‍♂️

went out in a night run with the NSJC a couple of weeks ago, and busted on of the accessory switches.

This was a perfect opportunity to fix my OCD, and delete the awful blue switches.

In doing so, I found a bad wire for the front fog lights, which have never worked since I got the Zuk.

Also took the opportunity to clean up the the wiring and put each accessory on its own fuse.
