Jawritch
Is it ever, hopefully it all goes painlessly. But I just jinxed it, whoops
SQRLPWR
After much dickering, I finally got the TBI started. It's running rough, so I'm chasing down vacuum lines. I don't think I will be able to get the Zuk ready for tomorrows run.
Lil'monster
Put your intake hose on they will run like **** without it
SQRLPWR
Yeah, now i know it's running, I can start putting it all together properly

SQRLPWR
I need to double check all those little vacuum lines, as I'm sure a couple are on wrong or not connected
ronin
Jay, did you swap the gauge cluster from the other Samurai . The cluster should have a VSS which you will need in order to run properly .
SQRLPWR
Thanks for the heads up. From my understanding.....VSS measures vehicle rolling speed off the tach via a read sensor on the back of the speed dial. The computer uses speed to adjust the engine timing. If I have that correct, that sounds weird...surely timing adjustments should be load based. I guess it's a very basic system. Dave and I have discussed this previously, and no, it wasn't used in the donor, and that was a daily driver without ant MPG or running issues. I welcome any other ideas or thoughts on the matter
SQRLPWR
TBI project was on temporary hold due to burst water pipe and basement flood. I'm gonna push to get it done now. I have antifreeze, and I just need to get it up to full temp and make sure I have all the vacuum hoses in the right location. Mount the pump properly. Then tidy up all the wires and make it good. Got a lil' Christmas gift in the post from USPS 1990 Mercedes Benz 560SEL tie rod lever, aka Suzuki high steer mod I can't use it until I convert to SOA, so it's on my list http://fixbroke.tumblr.com/post/32875898375/new-steering-for-the-samurai
SQRLPWR
TBI conversion 99% done pending test drive. Just gotta tidy up some wires, clock the distributor a couple of teeth and make an air filter Runs good too
SQRLPWR
That feeling when u emerge victorious out of the doom of the garage for the 1st time in weeks Just have a few little things to tinker with to make it 100% like a proper fuel pump mount etc, but it starts 1st time ans runs really nice. sar4x4
I possibly should switch to TBI but commercial kits are expensive. I just need to fix my choke during cold weather start-ups!
SQRLPWR
I have 4 TBI intakes...maybe 1 per side...we'll make it work
SQRLPWR
Chad had 2 keys, 1 to run his Sami and the other to start/run the TBI engine. That wasn't going work for me. So I got the Tracker harness hooked up via a relay to the main Tracker power....now the Sami key powers up the Tracker harness - 1 key Took the Zuk out for it's first proper run to coffee night - TBI works great, even with the center exhaust leak I can't hear it idle at the lights, and no more cutting out I'd say power is down over the carb...but only a very small amount. Stability makes up for it tho - I'm a fan !
Brunet-Hemi
I'm sure if you really wanted you could find a way to program the computer and probably get more power than the carb. Probably not enough to be worth the effort though
SQRLPWR
Meh...power to weight ratio is probably the same as the X was...I don't have the need for speed
SQRLPWR
Whilst Tracey and Co. are at the theater, I got the Tracker TBI tach working with the Sami dials #1 warmup idle, #2 warm idle ...this thing cold starts, warms up and idles so smoothly now Merry Christmas

SQRLPWR
Whilst Tracey and Co. were at the movies, I knocked off a few little jobs on the Zuk - mounted the winch remote, installed an OEM gear knob and put the heated seat on a relay 'cause I kept leaving it on LOL
SQRLPWR
Justin kindly supplied me with some m12 1.25 thread bolts so I could start on the high steer. Removed the tie rods and drag link off the donor since mine need replacing due to bends and probably a lil wear. Will start on the swap tomorrow I'm hoping the swap will help with bump steer and minor death wobble.
SQRLPWR
Got the Mercedes half high steer done. Drag link shortened, tie rod straightened. Bump steer and death wobble is gone

sar4x4
I take it the drag link used to attach to the tie rod in a laying down 'Y' configuration? And now it's parallel to the tie rod? All the conversations I've ever read on steering geometry says that's the way to eliminate many steering problems! Nicely done!
sar4x4
Oh, I just looked at the pics again, you have a pic there. I'm not so impressed with your safety footwear though! I guess, how bad can a tie rod falling on your toe hurt? lol
