SQRLPWR
Looking for some help to install pinion bearings for a Ford 8.8 - have the master overhaul kit ZK F8.8-B I'd tackle it myself, but I don't have the equipment to measure backlash or pinion pre-load. Thanks
sar4x4
I have a dial indicator that I probably purchased at PA when I added my Detroit Locker in my 14 Bolt that you can borrow. I don't think they are that expensive. Not saying you want to do gears alone for the first time, but given the work you have done for the SAS, with the proper tools and instructions I'm 100% confident you can do the job. sar4x4
And given that you're not changing gears, just the pinion bearing, your shouldn't have to change a lot of, if any, shims, etc and you'll probably get it right the first time.
SQRLPWR
Thanks for the offer True about the just changing the bearings, assuming all is good with the whining current setup
Brunet-Hemi
I'm going to need to do my rear pinion soon too. I may have to pick both your brains after and possibly borrow your gage Eugene if that's OK.
SQRLPWR
Not to take anything away from anyone, but on paper it seems like a fairly straightforward procedure....with the right tools

Don't mixup or change any shims if gear pattern is ok
Powerram
A hint to aid installing the bearings is utilizing your freezer and oven. Use expansion and contraction to your benefit. Having a press is handy, but not necessary. You can always just cut the old races off and using warm and cold parts , using brass tools to drive them on will work. SQRLPWR
Looks like I'll be doing it myself I'll probably need to do the same on the front at some point as the seal is leaking
