We already have a few event dates pre-booked like the Summer Event, so for these months there will be no official club run.

I'm hoping with everyone's co-operation we can get the monthly trail runs to a point where there are no gaps in the calendar.

Any questions or comments, please let me know.

It's fun learning what the TH can do.  On a similar note, there is supposed to be a lifted Subaru around, we had a inquiry from the owner to run trails with us. (Lifted?  Really? How?)

Well, I believe  I saw it the other evening in Dartmouth, next to a used car lot.  Yup, lifted, about the same clearance as a TH, or maybe a bit more, but probably maxed out on the down travel.  And probably no lockers (TH?), and no traction control, etc.  So it would be a nice rough road rig, but like a TH, not a rock crawler, and not a DEEP puddle rig.

You will go on many/most of our trails, just take it slow and pick your line.  As Tom and others mentioned, we won't try to intimidate you to be throttle heavy and beat it up.  We've all had and have Daily Driver rigs and need to keep them intact.  And I don't like scratches on good paint.  Although I've even 'pin stripe by nature' on my Nissan Rogue! But my Rogue is not my vehicle of choice off highway!  I was out fiddle head picking and took a rails to trails........

.....As long as I am not the TH guinea pig

Lets be clear - that's not how we roll here at Backcountry.

Our sport is expensive, hard on vehicles and can be very dangerous. We'll always try and advise you to the best of our abilities, on the safest outcome for you and your rig. No sending you out for fun, knowing full well your rig will get destroyed.

Lifted Subarus can be very capable. Most are lifted on Forester struts and springs, but if it is an Outback model anything it has limited slip front and rear diffs. There are aftermarket parts to make subarus more offroad friendly. I was going to do it, but I'm glad I ended up with a Jeep. My last Subaru was an 05 Outback. I loved it

Bah don't listen to em! You gotta set goals, not limits!

You're right, we certainly don't want to limit anything, and there's nothing stopping that person from ignoring our advice.

We all have the potential for breakdowns/issues on trail, but sending somebody out on a club run, knowing the likelihood of carnage is high, and not letting that person know, isn't right. Plus in the event of a breakage it holds up everyone else. When you add winching and recoveries into the equation, **** can get dangerous pretty fast.

...then there's the question of insurance LOL

I trust you guys - that's the point of the club, and going out together. I look forward to getting out with the group - show me the ropes. I know I will learn a lot.

I was having fun with the "guinea pig" comment. A friend of mine likes to grate me that it's not a "real" rig.

My first goal is to get out on a run! 2nd goal... go on a second run!

Is your friend that says it's not a "real" rig going to bring HIS out?

I admit I liked the idea of the Trailhawk, but at the same time thought that it was not a real Jeep. I used to own an XJ for a short amount of time. After following the Orange one on the last PORN run my opinion has changed dramatically and I am extremly impressed with the Trailhawk. Especially it's ability to find traction without ground clearance or a lot of flex.

Now I find myself stareing a them when I see them on the road. Tonicsupersonic, the video is in the Pictures and Videos section of the forum if you didn't see it.

I would imagine the likes of the Pipeline would be close to its limit with no lift?

We had one through parts of Renfrew too.

Honestly, I think the Trailhawk would be fine on Bump & Grind even, up to the bog. Granted, he would be sticking to the main trail and not really playing on stuff. Bump & Grind is tame compared to what I have seen my Australian FB friends take theirs through...

Pipeline would be excellent for the TH. Renfrew is good too depending on where you go. The water crossings on the powerlines can get pretty deep at times, and there is one rocky muddy section.

I have no knowledge of any of the other club trails.
