Eastcoastcam
We started off Friday morning with 5 rigs... Tara, me & the dog in the TJ; Eugene and his brother AJ in the SAR4x4 Suburban; Jay with his 2002 Nissan Xterra; Sam in his 2003 Toyota 4Runner; Robbie & Emily in the 2010 JK Rubicon. Met at the Carpool Lot in St. Croix. The Adventure Begins... Airing down at the first trailhead... Big Jones Into the first portion of the trail along the lake, past the cottages (REAL cottages too...no power/indoor plumbing ;)!) ... One of the cabins... A trip like this isn't complete with out a Trail Dog ;) ... Meet Judy, our official M.U.D. Dog B) ... Into the Washout... Judy leading the way for us :D She walked/ran most of trail, up to where we stopped for a quick lunch break... A short lunch break and on to the last part of the trail... It gets pretty tight going through these woods here. Some find it tight with a JKU... that's cute ;) ... finishing the trail, after a brief stop at the Irving Circle K, we headed back to the carpool lot so we could meet up with Jonathon & Patrick, driving in Patrick's fully stock 2011 Toyota Tacoma. That makes 6 rigs for the next section of our journey. Then it was on to Ellershouse B) ... We cut it short in Ellershouse. This is where this part of our adventure got really fun. Off and into the unknown and into the Bowater area, on a trail looked at off a topographical map B) ! None of us had been this way and no nothing of how passable by Jeep/Truck/SUV it is. It starts with this bridge... ...and the biggest truck in the pack... The bridge didn't even flex under the weight of the big 'Burb B) !! Continuing on, we got to a place we could not pass through :( , and had to turn around and try a different way... This was the results... a twisty, turny, tight, off-camber (in spots) hill, full of big rocks, and loose dirt... By the time we hit our camping destination, it was already dark. Jay decided to go home so he could go to work, probably not a bad thing as cell service was sketchy for internet... Sam headed out for the evening as well. The rest of us got camp setup, and had a (very) late supper. A couple of wobbly pops by the light of the my trouble light and then it was off to bed for a well deserved night's sleep. An excellent day, no major carnage...just the usual and expected pin striping, and Jay busted a shock on his rear axle, and I broke a marker light lense on my front fender flare. Patrick not only impressed himself, but also everyone else on the tight rocky hill. Started the afternoon a little nervous, and finished it on top of the world. Sam learned the virtues of airing down for traction and a smoother ride, and probably would not have made it up that hill at full pressure. Great driving guys B) ! Day 2 to follow... Eastcoastcam
M.U.D. Run - Day 2... Started the morning off right with a fresh coffee and some breakfast. Both Tara and I were a little stiff first thing in the morning. I saw the air mattress in the bin, but failed to check it was the right one. It wasn't :( . It was just a single, not the newer double one or the old queen one. I told Tara she could use the single one, and I would take the ground. She declined and slept on the ground too. Oops... Sam (who didn't camp out) was in touch with Mike who was planning to meet up with us Saturday morning, and led him and his buddy Doug up to our campsite with a good supply of Tim Horton's coffee and donuts for all. (Thanks Sam B)!). While we were packing up, preparing for the next leg of the trip; Tara, Emily & the dog went for a swim in the lake. All packed up and ready to go we had 5 rigs at the start of Day 2, as Patrick & Jonathon headed home from camp . The lake and campsite... All packed up and back on the "road"... A few pics by the new dam... The water level is way down from the constuction. It seems they never bring the lake back up to where it was before. I have seen it in other lakes with rebuilt dams before... I doubt this will be different... off again, through to Pockwock... A while back Creepy had did some research into some interesting local history of this area. So we had to take a look B)! Very old man-made rock formations for a local mill in the area... For more information on this, please read Jan's (Creepy) posts on this area here...http://nsjc.proboards.com/thread/47134/ Interesting how the tree grows amongst the rocks... The waterfall... Fuel stop at another Irving Circle K :P ... ...To Be Continued...
Eastcoastcam
Eugene picked up some passengers while the rest of us made a stop at Tim Horton's for a quick lunch (Scott Duff, I tried to call you to come out for the afternoon when we were coming across Lucasville Rd.). And then on to Hard & Soft! These are my marks from the last time thru here in May :P ! Had to stop for a cooling break... My Jeep heated up so bad and we couldn't take driving with the heat cranked on any longer. This was a good shady spot by the river Seeing this along the way is a real piss off... We were met by Rob abd Katie near the end of the trail, and after exiting the trail, Eugene had to drop AJ and Matt back to AJ's strategically left truck just a bit up the road. Before continuing on, I took a quick drive down to my house to get the proper air mattress! Tara & I were NOT going to sleep on the ground tonight! Our house is only 10 minutes down the road, so we were back in to continue a short time later. Continuing on, in one of the Beaverbank trails that will lead us up into Renfrew, we hit this muck hole :o ... I had a temporary loss of forward momentum here (that makes twice in this hole  ). A quick winch back a couple feet, and I was able to slag my way through it. Robbie made it through, with a little difficulty, but not stuck. Mike & Doug were stuck after winching me back , and Rob and Katie couldn't make it through without help in thier 2003 Grand Cherokee. And Eugene hung back to watch ... After I got through, Robbie came back to winch Rob & Katie out. Then Mike and Doug Winched them selves across and out of the mud. THEN it was Eugene's turn...The ol' Burb pounded it and made it look easy :P ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVKdgWN8-zw Another night setting up camp in the dark, lol! But we had artificial daylight from Mike's LED bar to get camp set up B)! This night, a fire, some food, and some bevvies were definitely in order! A late night, I think it was about 2:30am when we all turned in for the night! Tara and I slept MUCH better with the air mattress :smiley-dance005: ! Good night! Day 3 to follow... Eastcoastcam
Day 3 Up and at 'em... alot slower than Saturday morning. Another nightof setting up camp and getting supper after dark, made for a latee night around the fire. Also the consumption of some adult beverages may have had a small hand in it too :P ! A good morning to wake up to, Breakfast was a team effort it seemed. Tara and I made a small batch of blueberry/rasberry pancakes. (as I was walking the trail snapping pictures, I was picking wild blueberries and rasberries along the way B) ), Robbi & Emily cooked up bacon and eggs, and everyone shared in it! Packng up and getting ready to go... We were in the Renfrew area at this point. This area was known for gold mining at one time... Eugene had found this spot here to play on back when we did our Renfrew Rally... Just by here, was some ruins of an OLD building, next to the river... We stuck to the woods roads here to make it to our next fuel stop/meeting place... Yup, you guessed it... Another Irving stop, only this time the Big Stop in Enfield :P !! Here, we met up with Rob S., a club member about to be moving to Ottawa for his new posting. Thanks for getting out with us one last time Rob, in this busy time for you B) ! We left here and headed cross country to our final trailhead to meet up with Steve too! It was very nice that we had folks meet up with us for virtually every leg of our weekend trip! Into the Rocky Myra B) ... This sums up our weekend so far quite nicely... B) : Our M.U.D. DOG, Judy, still trucking along leading us through B) ... At the end... next stop after here... TIM HORTONS!!! A coffee was totally necessary at that point for the drive home from Porter's Lake :P ! And there you have it... 3 days, many trails with a great bunch of guys & gals. Couldn't have asked for a better weekend of wheeling! ...And I'll end it with the same pic that I started with (which was the LAST one I took of our trek )... Thanks for looking! ...To be continued B) soccer calls for the boys...

sar4x4
Lmctruck.com sells them new. lol, I remember from an earlier discussion on this. I was just trying to be dramatic! On Sunday we drove by a derelict vehicle several times with 5 on the roof! I didn't have time to stop! I've purchased quite a bit of stuff from LMC.
