  1. Popeye (lol) is likely on the right path. If your master cylinder is going, when you apply pressure to the diaphragm in the opposite direction it can rip the seal. Had this happen on my Nissan 720. Since then I have always opened the bleeder whn compressing the piston back into the caliper.

Could also be a build up on the piston causing it to stick in the caliper meaning your only effectively using 2 or 3 corners when braking.

  2. And mine doesn't? I beg to differ Scott. MY always got me out of the trail on its OWN power. And when I break suspension parts, HOW quick am I to fix it, pretty damn fast. So don't sell ME short.

Agreed Rob, however it also required a run to home to get parts and then return to repair. I think Scott was noting that the Libby was able to get off the trails under it's own power, without any additional trips to leave the trail ;)

Spaceace, do you have the know-how & tools to do this repair on your own? I did this on my 96 Pathfinder (almost the same) and I can tell you for a fact that liberal amounts of your favoured rust fluid & air tools are a must. Given the age, most of the bolts will snap if you use a cheater bar and sockets in the driveway (ask me how I know!!??). For the bolt & nut combo, this is not an issue, you can get them from your favorite shop, for the bolts to OEM frame mount welded nuts, this is not going to work in you favour.

I used the auto-club at CFB Windsor when I replaced my rusted pan (in 2004) and it took about 2 hours start to finish...most shops will quote the shop manual hour time of 3.5 hours.

  3. Problem is not only with the tread exposed on the side of the vehicle, but also the tread exposed (spray) at the rear of the vehicle. Rigs get warned/cited all the time for missing a mud flap on the rear set. I can tell you for certain that my X lifted and OEM plastic flaps removed, I throw A LOT of water behind me above 80 km/hr!

On the + side, it's great in the winter when you get an a$$hat on your rear bumper at a light or sign...quick push of the skinny pedal and they get a windshield full of snow!

  4. Well FML. I'm not in for the 7th. Wife is taking our daughter to see the f 'n Doodlebops in Halifax at the Rebecca Cohn on Sunday. Can't take a 1 year old on the trail in a car seat, although from the looks of the trail, we'd be stopping every 30 minutes anyway...not going to get a permission slip for this one. My off-roading life sucks as of late.... I'd ask to change to the 6th, but it makes no difference, I have the kids that day while she is on a girl run to the Valley.

  5. $1500 was the bill, I had to pay the deductable each time. I lived on Chadwick Place (off Willett). Parking lot backed onto the trail that runs through C P so the vehicles were easy targets for thieves "shopping" 7-8 vehicles would get hit at one time. Not very smart people as the Pathfinder had an alarm & it would go off each time they poped the lock with a screw driver.\

Cops came on 2 of the occasions as they were targeting largger vehicles. They were being used in smash & grabs. Used to be a few of these in HRM when I lived there. Vehicles being used to drive into stores to steal smokes, booze, drugs, etc.
