  1. As usual I won't be there, but I'll tell you what I'm driving this week whenever it is different. I have a friend's (with benefits ;-) ) Lexus IS250 AWD. She borrowed my Rogue to move some furniture. There are lots of things that don't suit me about the car ergonomically, but the power transfer when you nail it is awesome in this vehicle.
  2. I ended up moving a large couch. Was to take only a few minutes. Had to take an apartment door off to get it in. With spring loaded hinges, etc etc. Had a beer when I was done!
  3. Last week I was driving the Search and Rescue truck and thought better of driving it around too far for fun, and then in fact spent the evening working on installing the winch. This week I'm drving my brother's diesel. I dropped our Auto Hauler trailer at Provincial Spring today for inspection. Who knows what I will show up driving one night or another!
  4. I'm driving around in the Search team's F250, while I install the M15000 winch. Worked on it the last two evenings. Hmm.
  5. Have to change your signature as well!
  6. Umm, my car is in Lake Echo. I'm at work in Halifax. And my truck is home in Dartmouth and isn't running properly. I won't be making it to coffee or the meeting because I won't have sorted transportation out by tomorrow night! Luckily I can take transit back and forth to work.
  7. I was at 'A Comedy of Errors', at Neptune. Doing my duty so I can get what I want later. ;)
  8. I think I'm going to make it to the coffee night! As well, my computer had been dropping the wireless connection for the last 3 weeks making posting things a PITA and the Internet being generally slow. Eastlink just changed my wireless frequency moments ago and now things are blazing fast (Oops, is that a Bell Aliant quote?). I can read Forums and post at will! Yeah!
  9. I agree with Pat, and more. Your rear pistons could be sticking, as well as the caliper sliders. The pistons and calipers were stuck in one place for a while, now they are moving again but may be sticking. I'll bet those calipers aren't cheap........
  10. I wasn't there, but if he was just getting home........................ it would have been a long night!
  11. Don't put a locker on a half ton front axle with 35's unless you got a stockpile of axleshafts! Tires look good though!
  12. Freakin' Awesome Dudes! Thanks for the pics and vids! So what was the best set-up, why did some vehicles do better than others? Tires, wheelbase, weight? Drivers? And lastly, maybe the line the driver took? Thanks again!
  13. Thanks for the pics! What a great turnout! Couple of questions: 1) Any old wheelers there or just all you young 'un's that are making the club strong? lol 2) Were you able to save the F150 from any body damage? I've got my rig laid up while I put the D60 under her, so no more hub problems! My pics from my phone suck so I haven't posted anything. Thanks again!
  14. LOL. I just read the Jan Club Run thread and it was said much easier there: ""Because you're putting stress in the center of the pin, where the draw bar distrubtes the weight across.""
  15. Wow, I would not have thought it would break that easily either! But as James says, it is where the force is applied. Normally the strain on a hitch pin is right against both sides/ends on the inside of the receiver, creating a force trying to shear the pin on both sides. And they're really designed for relatively steady loads, not jerking loads. If the strap happened to pull right in the centre of the pin, it creates a 'bending moment', which is a different force altogether. Anyway you look at it, it is testament to using the right equipment for the job, and standing clear! I've often wondered about the difference when using a tow strap as a recovery strap, a tow strap isn't designed for shock loads either. And maybe there are different grades of hitch pins, Grade II, Grade III etc?
  16. Nice job guys. And it is the season for red noses on grilles. My brother has an 8 yr old daughter and has the red nose on the grille of the Dodge Diesel, kinda looks big rig style. All in fun!
  17. CONGRATULATIONS - LOOKING GOOD!
  18. Takes time, doesn't it! Looking forward to the next pics!
  19. I'm happy with second place, sniff sniff. Maybe I'll get James to build a rally trophy..................
  20. My brother's truck, I took the picture, the first New Cumberland run, 2010. If I have to we'll post under his name! I don't know how to change the size, but it's worth clicking on....
  21. NICE! I plan on painting mine next time with a roller. It took me two nights to mask it last time and I had water in the compresor, etc etc. What kind of paint? Did you have to reduce it, etc?
